After owning and riding horses for many years, I became aware that I was a little different in my concept of horse training. I don't believe in most traditional methods, that horses should be forced into doing our bidding, or which equipment will harness his power best... I don't believe that getting on from one side because tradition states it (dating back to medieval times). I believe in knowing your horse, in teaching him to the best of your ability, and showing him through bonding exercises that he can trust you. Only a solid foundation will lead to a happy healthy long-term relationship.
Horses are very spiritual animals, and although their body language and pecking order is very similar to dogs, but they way they think could not be more different.
Once again I find myself philosophising about the importance of trust and leadership...
